Hi everyone my name is Andy I am new to the Forum and will be receiving my new Tarsacci on Monday.  My question is, I see that the detector comes with headphone adapters. What type of headphones connect directly into the unit without adapters? Are they waterproof ones? are their land ones that connect directly?

Really looking forward to this detector looks like it’s quite different from all my others.

Hello Andy, and welcome!

congratulations on your purchase of the MDT.

Basically any headphones will connect to the waterproof IP 68 connection lead supplied with the unit, it has to be a 3.5 mm jack !

No need to wire directly as the IP 68 connection on the 6" lead makes the box unit waterproof, you could perhaps wrap some electrical tape around the connection on the headphones side as extra piece of mind!

Im actually using wireless headphones........ Trond BT-Duo Transmitter, and the matching Trond Headphones,,,, works excellent, with no obvious signal lag whatsoever!

However hope this helps,,, good luck with the MDT, be patient, keep experimenting,,, and after several hours, it all makes sense,,, I'm loving my Tarsacci here in the UK, really pleased with it!!!

Happy Hunting.......

regards,,

Dave.

Thanks for reply!   My trip to UK got canceled this October due to Covid 😠

I will check out your recommendations.     I was thinking of looking into Garret zlink since pin pointer also sounds through headphones.  As an avid XP DEUS user I like that.

Hi Dave,    I’ll let Forum know what I do but first I better learn the machine 😁

my Celtic Quarter stater is a rare one here’s the ID.

Early 70BC Maldon Wheel quarter - 'Remi 'Type Celtic gold qtr stater - sent to PAS for recording
13.45mm,1.34g

Maldon Wheel quarter, not in VA or BMC, ABC 2234. Extremely rare, 12 others known, struck from known dies but from a new die combination so a very useful coin to have, especially with a reliable provenance.
CCI 12.0378

John Stills previous ID

PAS with British Museum Allowed me to keep it. Took over a year.    Found in the south eastern part of UK.

If you aren’t in the water speaker phones have a better tone.  Water phones it’s easier to waterproof piezos.   You can buy an M8 ... they have 90 degree ones that are solderless.  For use in salt water just add some epoxy inside.  I always put a small piece of shrink tune on mine as a stiffer.   I’m betting Mal would do you a pair with than M8.  I think I have the pin out and part no. of the M8.  I use Tony Eisenhower’s on mine for salt water.  Most land phones all use the same speakers.... audiosears

Andy,,,, very nice coin,,,, I wasn't far off with my ID, now seeing the obverse, it is indeed a Maldon Wheel ,, very similar to the Gold Tit,,, ABC 2252 as per the reverse of the coin...

Wish you all the best with the MDT ,,,, chat soon!

regards

Dave.

Hello Aaron,

Thanks for reply. I’ve been watching your videos getting prepped for the arrival of my machine.   Only thing I haven’t seen yet is the reactivity speed on different targets next to each other and from what I can see there is no reactivity adjustment in the menu settings.

Correct, The Tarsacci has no reactivity speed. Between Keith and I, we’ve posted many videos of of targets lying next too, or even under iron, coke and aluminum that most machines w reactivity speed adjustments still cannot replicate. You have to remember, the Tarsacci is NOT a VLF, most likely something unlike you’ve ever used before. Put the time in, study the audio and you’ll be very happy w the results!

The Tarsacci stock coil is unique.

Its bigger for depth but still separates like a smaller coil.the foot print is very narrow for its size.maybe tightest Ive seen. Its hot in center but on the edges its not radiating alot  like most coils do.

It can hear a coin next to a large piece of iron most machines would never hear even with small coil.

Thanks Aaron and Kieth !   I’ve been watching both your videos, trying to absorb what I can for the maiden voyage tomorrow!
