Just received my detector tonight! Thought it was really cool being packed in a backpack. Nice to see it breaks down small enough for a backpack, as a matter of fact I use a larger backpack than I one it came in, I have some long hikes to my spots.

i’ll be starting in the woods tomorrow in the lighter iron areas on the farther outskirts of a iron littered foundation. Advice I read on a post from Keith on a different forum.

Any suggestions or starting setups would be appreciated.

Salinity @ 41-45, Salt on. 18khz, set threshold according to your EMI, start in Disc. Offset GB 15-20 points. That should get you going especially in light iron.

Thanks Aaron.   When you say offset GB 15 to 20 do I add 15 to 20 higher on the ground balance? I did not just my salinity above 27 I will do that next time I’m out.

so I tried to spots today in the woods light iron on the outskirts of a foundation. Then find much some small pieces of copper conductors targets. Trying to get the hang of the machine. I have to confess I liked it better without discrimination set at -1 or -2 I’d like to better at -30. I purposely dug some iron targets I could hear the different things of iron forcing compared to the copper bits had a different louder pinging to them. I guess it’s hard to explain.

Later on I try to do some low tide hunting. Whole different ball game. I couldn’t believe how many pull tabs and nickels this machine slammed deep. If you’re hitting pool tabs and nickels deep you have a good shot at finding a gold ring. I found many pennies and dimes and quarters all clad some relatively deep I found a miraculous metal not sure if it’s copper or what but a second miraculous medal and bits of chain was silver here’s a photo of that medal.

Overall a fun day. I am really impressed with how the Tarascci works on the beach I hunted. I wouldn’t doubt it would work even better as I start understanding settings. I performed a ground balances on the beach which varied from 557 - 684.  salinity of 27/28 I probably could’ve went higher. I also left black sand on. Sensitivity 4, disc -30. Any other suggestions please let me know.

Yes, correct. Raise your GB another 15 to 20 points after.
You’ll find the MDT runs a lot smoother 41-45 salinity in 18khz. Yes, -30 disc in iron what most of us are finding works great in iron, especially heavy.

Regarding salt water hunting, you need to post that on our water hunting forum as we have a lot of salt water hunters that can offer a wealth of information.

I will say though, if your finding nickels and pulltabs. your in the right place. Try 9khz and as much sensitivity as possible while maintaining stability.....

Thanks Aaron.  I should have mentioned I was dealing with brackish water with moderate iron. Not a large saltwater beach, but I’ll be glad to post where ever I’m supposed to.  I’m not great at this forum thing or social media. 😊
